Saturday, September 1, 2012
9 am to 4 pm

Mark your calendar Labor Day weekend Saturday September 1, 2012 for the 47th annual Duryea Day antique and classic car show and flea market in the scenic Boyertown Community Park. Duryea Day’s prime sponsor is National Penn Investors Trust Company. National Penn Investors Trust Company has been generously helping to back this popular community event for a number of years.

Exciting sights and sounds will fill Boyertown Community Park on Saturday. Here you will find a wonderful array of antique and classic vehicles. Names like Franklin, Oldsmobile, Peerless, Winton and Model “T” Ford are recalled in gleaming brass that shines from early antique autos. And the tall sparkling grilles between the sweeping fenders of the pre-war beauties are bound to catch your eye. Perhaps you will spot your favorite classic car from the ’50s, ’60s or ’70s. Whether you favor elegant sedans, post-war convertibles or colorful muscle cars you are bound to see them here. Some are heard before they are seen as the throbbing engines of dazzling street rods rumble through the park.

But don’t think that Duryea Day is only about cars, trucks and motorcycles! A variety of tasty food choices will be served by various vendors in the park. You can also sit back and enjoy the free music provided by live bands performing during the day.

Shoppers will enjoy a flea market filled with merchandise as varied as auto parts and literature, handcrafts, antiques and household treasures to capture the heart of the bargain hunter. And the Car Corral provides a marketplace for buying and selling collector vehicles of every description.

Museum’s Choice Awards will be given for: Pre-War Antique Car, Post-War Antique, Car, Antique Truck, Antique Modified, Antique Motorcycle and Antique Sports Car.

Remember to take advantage of the free shuttle bus ride to the Boyertown Museum of Historic vehicles and your free admission to Pennsylvania’s transportation history museum.

The Duryea Day show is a joint effort organized and run by the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles –Pennsylvania’s Transportation History Museum – and the Pottstown Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America.

It would take a new kind of “science fiction” to imagine the world today without automotive transportation. Our own southeastern Pennsylvania played a huge role in writing the early history of the automobile. At the Boyertown Museum, the significant advances are recorded, and examples are preserved, of the horse-drawn and motorized vehicles, which helped create today’s world of highway travel.

Members of the Museum make it possible to gather, preserve, and study important transportation artifacts. The Museum is a place for learning and understanding, supported by individuals who love local history, and believe that understanding it strengthens our community, and adds to our quality of life.
