Visits to our Museum by students and parents who school at home are not unusual. But, recently we heard again from a group of Pottstown home schooling parents concerning how difficult it is to find places like this museum that meet their educational needs.
Parents tell us that the museum fits into their curriculum in several areas — including Pennsylvania history, and science and technology. It has learning opportunities for children from the early grades through high school. It has proven to be a productive outing that they say they were very pleased to discover.
We took this as a call on all of us, including museum members and friends, to do more to point home schooling families to the resources available here. Word of mouth is particularly useful in reaching parents of this growing group. They are parents with a very high desire to provide outstanding educational experiences for their kids.
